Hi there! I’m Sabrina, the photographer and recipe developer behind Sweet and Seasoned. On my blog, you’ll discover a wide range of tried and tested recipes spanning from flavourful entrees to the most decadent desserts. The name “sweet” and “seasoned” perfectly encapsulates my culinary philosophy of not being able to choose between a luscious slice of cheesecake or extra spicy noodles.

Each of the recipes that I share with you is designed to be easily adaptable to your preferences. I provide notes on various seasonings and protein variations so that you can make each dish your own. Although I may not be a professional chef, I love to experiment with different ingredients and techniques to create new and exciting flavours.

Thanks for stopping by, and I can’t wait to continue sharing my favourite recipes with all of you!

How I started…

I have always enjoyed food, but cooking for myself used to be daunting. When I started university, I had to learn to make quick and easy meals to fit my busy schedule. To my surprise, I went from dreading being in the kitchen to spending all my free time coming up with new recipes as a way to relax from school stress (because indulging in a rich, and fudgy chocolate cake can fix anything… right?). My cooking style is inspired by a fusion of Western and Punjabi dishes I grew up loving. But with my hectic lifestyle, I found ways to simplify family classics for quick cooking, creating flavourful dishes full of vibrant colours and warm spices. Since food has always been a way to connect with others, I take pride in creating delicious and wholesome meals that bring people together.

Let me introduce you to Mika, my furry companion! She’s a sun-loving sweetheart who enjoys exploring the kitchen, hoping to sneak a taste of my latest culinary creation. Mika’s playful and radiating personality is truly a gift.

I shoot with a Canon EOS M50 Mark II and it is an excellent camera for beginners wanting to pursue food photography. With its Bluetooth and WiFi features, I can easily capture images from my laptop, making the process highly convenient. I highly recommend this camera to anyone starting out in the field. When it comes to flat-lay shots, a 50mm lens is my preferred choice, while I opt for a 50-200 mm lens for more detailed images. However, I film all my Instagram videos using an iPhone 14, which goes to show that you don’t need to spend a lot of money to get started with food photography.
