Easy Guacamole Recipe

Looking for an effortless and quick recipe for the creamiest guacamole? Look no further! This homemade guac recipe takes less than 10 minutes to prepare and uses only fresh produce. With just seven simple ingredients, you can take your taco night to the next level with my favourite guacamole recipe.

  • Avocados: The best guacamole requires ripe avocados (Scroll below for some avocado tips and tricks)
  • Jalapeño: Authentic guacamole uses freshly chopped jalapeño but I prefer using green pepper for an extra crunch. You can also just leave out the jalapeño or pepper and it still tastes incredible!
  • Onions: I add red onions for a subtle hint of garlic flavour but white or green onions will be just fine.
  • Tomatoes: For less watery guacamole, it’s best to use Roma tomatoes as they have a lower water content.
  • Cilantro: Fresh cilantro elevates the guacamole but you can choose to substitute it with fresh or dried parsley.
  • Lemon juice: Either lemon or lime juice can be used.
  • Salt: Use flakey sea salt, kosher salt or table salt

Instructions

Step 1: To prepare the avocados, start by slicing them in half. Then, gently remove the pit and either scoop out the flesh with a spoon or peel the avocado and add it to a mixing bowl.

Step 2: Add the lemon juice and salt to the avocados and mash together with a fork while leaving a few chunks for texture.

Step 3: Dice the tomatoes, pepper, onion and cilantro. Add it into the mixing bowl and fold it until combined. At this stage add more salt or lemon juice as needed.

Step 4: When you’re ready to enjoy, serve it up right away or pop it in the fridge covered with plastic wrap. This guacamole is perfect for making tacos, burrito bowls, or using as a dip for your favourite tortilla chips.

  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt (or to taste)
  • 1/3 cup red onion (diced)
  • 1 medium tomato, diced

  • 1/4 cup cilantro (finely chopped)

Instructions

  • Carefully slice the avocados in half and remove the pits. Scoop out the inner part of the avocados into a mixing bowl.
    3 medium avocados (ripe)
  • Add the lemon juice and salt to the mixing bowl and mash together until it reaches your desired consistency (for more texture, leave some avocado chunks unmashed).
2 tablespoon lemon or lime juice, 1/2 teaspoon sea salt (or to taste)
  • Stir in the chopped onions, jalapeñno, tomatoes and cilantro. Mix until combined.
1/3 cup red onion (diced), 1 medium tomato, diced, optional* 1 tablespoon Jalapeño (de-seeded and chopped), 1/4 cup cilantro (finely chopped)

Notes

  • Substitute the jalapeño with 1/4 chopped green pepper.
  • For delicious guacamole, it’s best to use fresh lemon or lime juice instead of bottled versions. The bottled juice can make the guacamole taste too sour.
  • The guacamole will last up to 2 days in the refrigerator.
