In a pot combine the milk and water over medium heat and simmer until warm, but do not boil.
2 cups milk, 1 cup water
Once the milk and water are warm reduce the heat to low, add the matcha and use a handheld frother to incorporate the matcha (Note: matcha can be put through a sieve to reduce lumps).
2 teaspoon matcha powder
Turn off the heat and add vanilla extract, honey and sugar free vanilla syrup.
Sugar free vanilla syrup is not required but I highly recommend it for that added Starbucks matcha feel.
For a smooth, lump-free matcha latte, pour the matcha into a strainer over the cup.
I recommend high-quality matcha for a vibrant green colour taste. Ceremonial grade matcha is significantly less bitter and will require less sweetener.
An alternative method is to heat the milk and water in a heat-safe mug or Pyrex and microwave for 1 to 2 min depending on your microwave voltage
