  • Quick and easy: Everything comes together in a food processor or blender in just a few minutes.
  • Healthier but still full of flavor: This chipotle sauce is made with Greek yogurt to add more protein while keeping that smoky, tangy flavor you want.
  • Great for meal prep: It stores well in the fridge for up to 5 days, making it perfect to have on hand for quick meals.

Ingredients

  • Greek yogurt: For a higher protein sauce, choose a high-protein plain Greek yogurt. My favourite brands are Siggis and Oikos. Make sure it is plain Greek yogurt, not flavoured.
  • Mayonnaise: I use Hellmann’s light mayonnaise, but any brand you like will work.
  • Sour cream: Skip low-fat sour cream since it tends to be watery. Use 5 percent or full-fat sour cream for a thicker, creamier texture.
  • Chipotle peppers: Chipotle peppers in adobo add a smoky, slightly spicy flavor to the sauce.
  • Citrus: Use lime or lemon juice to add brightness. Freshly squeezed juice is best, since bottled juice can be too sour for this recipe.
  • Seasoning: You will need garlic powder and salt. You can swap the garlic powder for freshly minced garlic, but garlic powder gives a smoother texture.

High Protein Chipotle Sauce FAQ

What can I use this chipotle sauce for?
Use it as a dip for vegetables, drizzle it over tacos or salads, or add a spoonful to burgers, wraps, or bowls for extra flavor.

Can I use cottage cheese instead of Greek yogurt?
Yes, you can use cottage cheese. For the best texture, blend it until completely smooth before adding it to the sauce. Full fat cottage cheese will give the creamiest result.

Is this chipotle sauce spicy?
It has a mild to moderate heat from the chipotle peppers. You can easily adjust the spice level by using fewer peppers or removing the seeds.
