Healthy and High Protein – This dip has over 40 grams of protein, so it actually keeps you full, which is rare for something this tasty.
Ready in 5 minutes: Everything goes into a food processor or blender, so there is no cooking involved.
Smooth and creamy: Blending the cottage cheese completely transforms its texture into a smooth dip without noticeable curds.
Sweet and spicy: Honey balances the tanginess of the dairy and the gentle heat from the chili oil.
Easy to serve: Pair it with vegetables, pita chips, crackers, toasted bread, or use it as a spread for sandwiches and wraps.
Ingredients
- Cottage cheese: I like using 1% cottage cheese for a lighter, lower-fat option, but if you’re after a thicker and creamier texture then go for full-fat cottage cheese
- Greek Yogurt: Stick with Greek yogurt for this recipe, not regular yogurt. It’s thicker, tangier, and perfect for dipping. My go-to is Oikos High Protein with no added sugar. It’s super smooth and holds up really well in this dip.
- Chili Oil Crisp: Use whatever chili oil crisp you love, I’m a big fan of Momofuku and Lao Gan Ma Spicy Chilli Crisp in Oil. It adds just the right amount of spice, flavor, and a pop of color that makes the dip feel extra special.
- Honey: A drizzle of honey mixed with the chili oil balances everything out. It adds just enough sweetness to mellow the tang and spice without overpowering the dip.
- Seasonings: You’ll need garlic powder, dried parsley, and a pinch of salt.

How To Make Cottage Cheese Dip

Step 2: Scoop the dip into your favorite bowl and top it with a sprinkle of sumac, an extra drizzle of honey, and more chili oil. Serve with fresh baguette slices, pita chips, or crisp veggies for dipping.

High Protein Cottage Cheese Dip FAQ
Why blend cottage cheese for a dip?
Blending cottage cheese turns the naturally lumpy texture into a smooth and creamy base that’s perfect for dipping or spreading. Greek yogurt adds extra creaminess and a little tang, while honey and chilli oil balance the savoury and spicy flavours.
Is cottage cheese dip high in protein?
Yes. Cottage cheese and Greek yogurt provide most of the protein in this dip. The exact amount will vary depending on the brands and types of cottage cheese and Greek yogurt you use.
Can you taste the cottage cheese?
Blending the cottage cheese makes the dip very smooth and removes most of the curdy texture. The Greek yogurt, honey, garlic, parsley, and chili oil also add flavour.
Can I make this cottage cheese dip without chili oil?
Yes. You can leave out the chili oil for a milder dip. For extra flavour, try adding a little olive oil, smoked paprika, or your favourite herbs instead.
Can I use low-fat cottage cheese?
Yes. Low-fat cottage cheese works well and creates a lighter dip. Full-fat cottage cheese will produce a richer and creamier texture.
How long does cottage cheese dip last in the fridge?
Store the dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Give it a quick stir before serving if any separation occurs.
Can I make cottage cheese dip ahead of time?
Yes. This dip can be prepared ahead of time and refrigerated until you’re ready to serve it. Add the toppings just before serving for the best presentation.
Is cottage cheese dip spicy?
This version has a gentle warmth from the chili oil rather than intense heat. Use less chili oil for a milder dip or add more if you prefer extra spice.
